Learn to Build Your Website
in Newmarket, GTA
A half-day, in-person workshop for small business owners, freelancers, and entrepreneurs in the GTA. Walk in with nothing. Walk out with a live website at your own domain, built with AI — no coding, no prior experience required.
You leave with a real website — not a mockup
By the end of the workshop, your site is live. Not in draft, not on a free subdomain, not waiting for someone else to deploy it.
A live website
Homepage, about, services, and contact pages — all live on the web before you leave.
Your own domain
Registered in your name. yourname.com or yourbusiness.ca — whatever fits your brand.
A working contact form
Leads go straight to your inbox. No third-party subscription required.
The skills to update it
You built it, so you know how to change the copy, swap a photo, or add a page.
Built for GTA small business owners
This workshop is for anyone in the Greater Toronto Area who needs a professional web presence and does not want to pay $3,000 to $8,000 for someone else to build it, or spend months wrestling with a template on Wix.
You do not need to know anything about code. You do not need to have a finished business. You just need to show up with a laptop and something you want to put online.
This workshop is probably not for you if:
Need a fully custom site built for you?
See my web design servicesWhat you'll learn
The workshop covers everything from zero — your domain, your hosting, your content, your design, your contact form — in one morning.
Domain registration and hosting setup
You will register your domain and connect it to a free Netlify account. We cover what hosting actually is, what you are paying for (spoiler: nothing at this scale), and how DNS works in plain terms.
Working with Claude to write your site
You will learn how to describe your business to Claude so it can generate pages that sound like you, not like a marketing robot. This is the core skill — prompting effectively for real content.
Building pages that convert
A homepage, an about page, a services page, and a contact page — each with a clear job to do. I cover what goes on each page, what to leave out, and why most small business sites bury the important stuff.
Setting up your contact form
You will wire up a form that sends leads straight to your email using Netlify Forms — no third-party service, no monthly fee. We test it live during the workshop.
Deploying and going live
You will push your site live and see it at your domain before you leave. Not "I will do that part later" — actually live, with a real URL you can text someone.
Keeping it updated yourself
The last section is about maintenance. How to update your copy, swap a photo, add a new service page, or make design changes — all using the same AI-assisted approach you learned in the morning.
Why I use Claude
instead of a website builder
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic — the same company founded by some of the people who originally built ChatGPT. If you have heard of ChatGPT, Claude works in a similar way: you type something in plain English, it responds. The difference is that Claude is particularly good at generating clean, well-structured code and following detailed instructions without making things up.
For building websites, that matters. When you build a website with Claude, you describe your business and what you want each page to say — and it generates the HTML, the layout, and the styling. You review it, give feedback, and it revises. No dragging boxes around, no digging through settings menus, no monthly subscription for features you will never use.
Using Claude for website building means you end up with actual code you own outright — not a locked-in template on someone else's platform. And because you did the build with Claude, you know how to go back and change things. That is the part most people miss with traditional website builders: you become dependent on the platform. Here, you become capable.
Claude vs. a website builder
"I want people to walk out understanding how it works, not just having a website. The site is the deliverable. The understanding is the point."
Format and location
A focused half-day. In person. Small group.
Half-day format
Saturday, August 15, 2026 — 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Long enough to build something real, short enough that you are not losing a full day.
Newmarket and Aurora
Sessions run in Newmarket and Aurora. Both are accessible from the broader GTA. Exact venue details are shared after registration.
Capped at 10 people
Small by design. When someone gets stuck, I can actually help them — not just wave at a room of 30 and hope for the best. Every attendee gets real attention.
Founding cohort rate
The first cohort gets the lowest price this workshop will ever be.
Limited to 10 seats per cohort. Price increases after the founding cohort.
Common questions
If something is not covered here, use the contact form and I will answer directly.
Do I need to learn coding to build a website?
No. The workshop is designed for people who have never written a line of code and have no plans to. If you can type an email and navigate a browser, you have the skills to follow along. The point is that Claude does the technical work while you focus on your content and goals.
What should I bring?
Your laptop, a charger, and a rough idea of what you want your site to say. Before the workshop I will send a one-page prep sheet that asks for your business name, a short description of what you do, and a few photos if you have them. That is it.
What if I do not have a business yet?
That is fine. A lot of attendees come with a side project, a freelance idea, or just a portfolio they have been putting off. The skills are the same whether you are building for a running bakery or a consulting practice you are launching next month.
Do I own the site after the workshop?
Yes. The site is deployed to your own account — Netlify is free at the starter level, and the domain is registered in your name through Namecheap or wherever you prefer. I do not hold anything. You leave with full ownership and the login credentials.
What does "built with Claude" actually mean?
Claude is an AI assistant made by Anthropic — think of it as a very capable collaborator you can describe your site to in plain English. Instead of learning HTML or using a point-and-click website builder, you tell Claude what you want, it generates the code, and you review the result. I teach you how to guide it effectively, how to catch mistakes, and how to keep updating your site on your own after the workshop.
How is this different from Squarespace or Wix?
Squarespace and Wix give you a template you drag content into. You are always working within their constraints — their design, their limitations, their monthly fee. What you build in this workshop is your own code that you own outright. It is faster to load, easier to customize, and costs nothing to host at the scale most small businesses need.
What is the refund policy?
If you cancel more than seven days before the workshop date, you get a full refund. Inside seven days, I offer a credit toward the next cohort. If I cancel or reschedule for any reason, you get a full refund immediately.
Where exactly is the workshop held?
In Newmarket or Aurora — the exact venue is confirmed after registration and sent to attendees. Both locations are accessible by car and transit, and I will share parking and transit details with your confirmation.
Is CA$597 the regular price?
The founding cohort price is CA$597. This is the lowest it will ever be. Once I have run the first few sessions and collected testimonials, the price will go up. Joining the waitlist now locks in the founding rate.
What if I get stuck after the workshop?
Everyone who attends gets 30 days of email support for questions about their site. I also run a small group chat where past attendees share what they have built and help each other. You are not on your own.
